“I feel that the Residency is a crucial part of the training!!! I wouldn’t leave anything out, especially being immersed in the Montessori classroom as a student! Victoria and the other instructors safeguarded the safety of all, which provided an invaluable experience for me to FEEL safe and therefore know how a child may feel in a Montessori classroom! I am convinced that I have had a genuine taste of the gift that Maria Montessori brought. Something else comes to mind as well, and that is that flexibility was implemented and flow was considered. Another thing I noticed was that Victoria had a sense of calm, despite being on a timetable and running things on a schedule. Much respect was given to the students to be where we were that day, yet continue forward in the lessons! I cannot express my gratitude in the magnitude that I feel it! Thank you!!!” – 2017 student“I saw that you could do a course online, have that online academic component and then do the residency…that was absolutely perfect for where I was. The online component of this course was out of this world, amazing. The Residency covered so many materials and all the avenues.” – 2013 student

Montessori teacher internship

Part 3. Student Teaching – 9 months

9-month student teaching 5 days a week for a half-day in a Montessori elementary classroom in your local area.

Your internship, directed by an AOM field representative, is your time to observe, learn and put into practice how to conduct a class, give the lessons, make materials, interact effectively with young children and assist the teacher as needed in all aspects of daily classroom life.

MACTE Montessori certification
After you successfully complete the three Montessori Teacher Training steps of the online courses with the required reading and forum discussions, the in-person residency, and 9 months internship, you take your final practical exam.

Your practical exam tests your thorough knowledge and use of the Montessori materials. Depending on student location, this exam may be held via Skype in your local area, or in-person at a residency campus.

Once you pass the practical exam, you are eligible for your MACTE-accredited Montessori Early Childhood Certification.
